About Mason
Mason was once thought of as a farm town, in the middle of “nowhere”, too far from Cincinnati to be considered. Mason is now one of the top destinations for homebuyers coming to the Cincinnati area. Conveniently located between I-71 & I-75, with access to some of Greater Cincinnati’s most popular tourist spots, Mason is hot!
Mason obtained her name from revolutionary war veteran William Mason. On June 1, 1803, Mr. Mason paid $1700 at auction to purchase the 640 acres of land. That area is currently known as downtown Mason.
The Mason area started as a small farming community. As time passed, more folks decided to settle in the area. However, in 1969 there were still less than 5700 residents. The town of Mason was incorporated into Mason the city in 1970.
If ever there was an area that experience rapid growth and development, Mason is it! It’s as though the area home builders planted “little house seeds” and subdivisions began to spring out of the farmers’ fields faster than the field corn and tomatoes. The 2000 census reported approximately 22,000 Mason residents. It’s estimated that there are now closer to 30,000 people who call Mason “home”.
Mason is also home to a “Who’s Who” list of Cincinnati’s largest employers. Many Mason residents can enjoy a brief commute to work. Cintas, Mitsubishi, P & G Health Care Research Corp. Luxottica Retail are just a few of the major employers. You can also enjoy Kings Island, and The Beach Water Park without traveling far. Tennis fans can enjoy the competitive Cincinnati Master’s Series, played every summer at the Linder Family Tennis Center.
Charming Downtown Mason
The “History of Mason” is still being written. Shopping, employment, highly rated schools, and lovely, well planned subdivisions continue to attract people to the area. Mason is alive and well, luring home buyers into the area, to enjoy all Mason has to offer.
